Mastering the Night Shift: Essential Power Management in FNAF

Published · 1 min read

In the original Five Nights at Freddy's, power is your most precious and unforgiving currency. Every single security monitor flip, blast door drop, and hallway light pulse drains precious percentages from your 100% starting battery reserve. Run out of juice at 5:50 AM, and Freddy Fazbear will promptly serenade you in the dark with the Toreador Song before delivering a fatal jump scare.

Hourly Power Allocation Benchmarks

Each hour in FNAF lasts approximately 86 to 89 seconds in real time. To ensure you survive the full six-hour shift until 6:00 AM, adhere strictly to these minimum power percentages at the start of each in-game hour:

  • 12 AM to 1 AM: End hour with at least 84% power remaining.
  • 1 AM to 2 AM: End hour with at least 68% power remaining.
  • 2 AM to 3 AM: End hour with at least 52% power remaining.
  • 3 AM to 4 AM: End hour with at least 36% power remaining.
  • 4 AM to 5 AM: End hour with at least 20% power remaining.
  • 5 AM to 6 AM: You need at least 5% to 7% power to survive the final rush.

Audio Cues Over Camera Peeks

A fatal mistake made by novice night guards is constantly flipping the camera monitor across all 11 rooms. Every second spent flipping cameras actively accelerates power consumption. Instead, rely on positional stereo audio cues. Bonnie and Chica produce heavy mechanical footsteps and raspy kitchen noises as they migrate through rooms. When an animatronic stands directly outside your office threshold, you can hear distinct breathing and metallic rustling.

Reserve camera usage primarily for keeping Pirate Cove (Cam 1C) under surveillance to pacify Foxy, and to freeze Freddy in the East Hallway Corner (Cam 4B).
